High School Camp students will:

• be introduced to Gig Harbor’s historic working waterfront aboard Veteran, in the Skansie NetShed and at the Eddon Boatyard shops.

• learn to operate small power (electric) boats

• be introduced to the basics of sailing aboard Thunderbird No. 2, Pirouette

• learn about salmon habitat while exploring Donkey Creek

• learn how to tie knots and how to dock and tie up a small boat

• build a 12’ rowing skiff, learning how to use Shipwright power and hand tools

• learn teamwork while rowing a two-person boat

• be introduced to navigation, how to use a compass, how to take sights, how to read charts and how to read tide & current tables
